Kati & Greeva Basti
SPINAL CORD AND NECK TREATMENT
Are you suffering from back, neck, or knee pain?
Do you feel free from stiffness and discomfort?
The word “Basti” in Ayurveda means “to hold” and or “oil application”.
Basti cleanses the accumulated toxins from the body, rebalancing the whole constitution. Hot oil treatment for musculoskeletal ailment deeply relaxes stiff and tight muscles, nourishes the nerves, ligaments, and tendons, and strengthens the spine.
The dough ‘made from lentil flour’ is applied to the area of inflammation and pain in a circle shape form, using a medicated oil to nourish all the bones and dhatus. This allows the oil to penetrate further into the cells, softening the firm and limited muscles.
The oil temperature is maintained during the treatment.
Kati basti refers to ‘lower back’ (L1-L5), and Greeva basti refers to ‘neck’ (C1-C7), however, a basti can be placed in most areas over your spine wherever there is tightness ranging from (T1-T12).
KATI-GREEVA BASTI IS INDICATED FOR:
Musculoskeletal disorders (lower and upper back pain and neck pain)
frozen shoulder
slipped discs
osteoporosis
sciatica
sports injuries
herniated discs
Helps repair nerve damage and heals ligaments
migraines
Digestive or menstrual issues
Treatment Program
Basti programs are offered in 3,5, or 7-day treatment plans.
It is recommended to do these treatments on consecutive days so the oil penetrates the deeper levels of the bones and tissues, and gets to the root cause of the pain, injury, or degeneration.
Treatment Process
The ‘basti’ dough is placed on the area of treatment and the medicated oil is warmed and slowly poured into the well, sitting over the skin. As the pool of oil cools it is replaced with warm oil throughout the procedure, to maintain a uniform temperature. This process is continued for a specific time.
