The purpose of self-massage, also known as Abhyanga - is a daily routine to balance the nervous system, prevent physiological imbalances, and lubricate and enhance the flexibility of the muscles, tissues, and joints.

(Pitta-related sensitivity and skin-related issues may be best to avoid using this oil and use coconut oil instead: Unless you are ok with sesame oil and have tried that then this oil will be acceptable to use)

DIRECTIONS:

  • heat the oil to a warm temperature (never to be applied cold)

  • apply the oil from your head to your toe

  • for stroke, instructions refer to the articles page for ‘abhyanga’

  • make sure to wash the oil off (minimum time to have oil on is 7 minutes- maximum is 48 minutes)

  • the best time is in the morning before breakfast, so you can shower after the massage
